What is Test and Tag?
• A regular test* looking for electrical faults in non-fixed
tools, leads and electrical appliances.
• Testing and Tagging your equipment should be part of
your duty of care as an employer to maintain a safe
working environment.
Why Test and Tag?
• Occupational Health and Safety laws impose a duty of care
on all employers to provide a safe working environment and
protect the health and safety of their employees and the
general public.

• If an item is not safe and causes an accident the proprietor
could be held liable.
• The testing and tagging of low voltage single phase and
poly-phase electrical equipment connected to electrical
supplies by a flexible cord and/or connecting devices should
be tested to comply with Australian standards AS/NZS
3760:2003.
• Adhering to AS/NZS 3760:2003 should be undertaken by all
workplaces as part of there OH&S to show that there duty of
care in this area has been fulfilled.
